29th Aug - 4th Sept - Taganga, Colombia

After a long travel we arrived back up in the North of Colombia we arrived in Taganga, just outside Santa Marta. Taganga has a crescent shaped beach with loads of restaurants along the front it had a very nice relaxed feel. The real reason we were here though was to do the Lost City Trek which is 5 days and 4 nights, sleeping in hammocks, walking and sweating. It was so hot. Our group was two English girls (Cheryl and Kate), an Australian girl(Sara), an Irish Boy (Gav) and a English guy who lives in New York (Jules)

The walk was through a jungle, you had to cross loads of fast flowing rivers and at the end you reach some ruins of an ancient village, Colombias answer to Macchu Picchu. The trek was a five day sweat fest but it was still really good, although saying that I did spend my 28th birthday tee total and sleeping in a hammock (Alex knows how to spoil me).

Sweating in Taganga
Slow coach..it was so slippery!
Struggling for my life.. Alex was too busy taking photos to help me out!

Local girl in traditional dress (a hessian sack and wellies!)
The local village, we had to walk through these to get to the ruins
Pig in a blanket!

You cant see it but there was a really steep drop to the left

Pit stop
Another river crossing..I was so glad that Alex told me wetsuit shoes were a waste of money!
Arriving at the ruins...1109 steps of doom
Our luxury accomodation at the Taganga Hilton. Woke up with loads of mozzi bites, Al had them all over his face..

Not a happy camper!!
